Change Starts Here
During our personal coaching services, we use a Trauma-Aware approach to the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change (TTM). This means we help you understand and navigate the different stages of change with sensitivity to your past experiences. We recognize that everyone progresses at their own pace and may face unique challenges due to their personal history. Our goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel understood and empowered to make positive changes in your life.
The Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change (TTM), also known as the Stages of Change model, was developed in the late 1970s by psychologists James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente at the University of Rhode Island. Initially created to understand how people quit smoking, the model has since been applied to a wide range of behaviors, from addiction recovery to health promotion. TTM identifies five stages of change—precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance—and emphasizes that change is a process rather than a single event. By recognizing these stages, TTM helps individuals and professionals create tailored strategies that support progress at each step, making it a valuable tool in various fields, including healthcare, psychology, and personal development.
What to expect in each session:
In our initial sessions, we’ll focus on understanding your goals, challenges, and where you currently are in the change process. We’ll start by discussing your motivations and any ambivalence you might have, then create a detailed action plan with clear, actionable steps. As you move through the stages of change, we’ll help you build awareness of the benefits of change, gather necessary resources, and develop strategies to overcome obstacles. Whether you’re just starting to think about change or actively working on it, we’ll provide the right support at each step.
As we progress, our sessions will focus on implementing your action plan and making significant behavior changes. We’ll address any challenges you encounter, adjust your plan as needed, and reinforce positive changes. Our goal is to help you sustain your progress and build confidence in your new behavior. In the final stages, we’ll review your journey, celebrate your successes, and reflect on your growth. We’ll also discuss your long-term goals and develop strategies to ensure lasting change. Throughout the process, you can expect a compassionate, trauma-aware environment where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to achieve lasting, positive changes in your life.
